The program of the VII Chekhov International Theatre Festival consists of two parts: The World Series and The Moscow Programme. The main feature of the VII Festival is “The season of the Canadian theatre” Russian audience will get a chance to see four productions by outstanding contemporary director Robert Lepage. He admits that it’s a great honour for him and his company to participate in the Chekhov Festival. The Canadian theatre is also represented by modern choreographer Marie Chouinard, unusual theatre&circus performance “Rain” (Cirque Eloize) directed by Daniele Finzi Pasca and “Chekhov’s shorts” based on Chekhov’s prose.
Famous directors Peter Brook, Pina Bausch, Robert Sturua, Philippe Genty are among the participants of the Festival. Declan Donnellan will bring his new production. The Festival will present the premiere of the opera “Pelleas and Melizanda” by Claude Debussy. Director – Olivier Py, artistic director of the Odeon-Theatre d’Europe. It is a co-production of the Chekhov theatre festival, Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Musical Theatre, and French Cultural centre. The festival program also includes performances from Japan, Argentina, Taiwan.
