I am the child of the Utopia”, - says Jean-Baptiste Thierree with reference to his artistic career. “Utopia” seems to be the key word perfectly applicable to the breathtaking show he performs together with Victoria Chaplin. The French audiences for the first time saw their joint work Cirque Bonjour in Avignon in 1971. For many years they toured predominantly outside France and in Spring 2007 Thierree and Chaplin literally conquered audiences with their Invisible Circus at Theatre du Rond-Point in Paris… Both of them were splendid – he with his conjuring tricks, enchanting humor, exquisite skills, revealed through the simplest gestures, captivating naivete and benevolent playfulness; she – with superb gracefulness and the physique of Alice in the land of wonders and demons whom she tames in the course of most bewitching, fairy-like transformations. The two of them illuminate the stage with radiant kindness and magic inventiveness. (...) Our language is short of words to spell out the effect of this incredible act. For a short while dirt and spite were washed away from us and we regained the most precious of our possessions – the impression of childhoodа
