Novaya gazeta
A recent graduate from Fomenko’s course, the Lithuanian Mindaugas Karbauskis has already surpassed the label of a ‘youngdirector'.... The very language of his new composition Uncle Vania and his quiet scenic gest ures betray tranquility and peace that are absolutely not youthful. ...In the entire composition that restraint, that coldish absence of any pathos, and that sentimental clamorousness are audible, the features that Joseph Brodsky so loved in his poetry and in the landscapes of Northern Europe. ... The way in which Nazarov plays Astrov shows a talented personality, whose charm is irresistible. His stage presence draws like a magnet.
